The Lamon House Current Renovations
A new roof has been placed on the Lamon House and repair work
was completed on some of the siding. On the
inside,  the dining room has been renovated with a new
ceiling, wallpaper, and trim. The
old-fashioned bathroom has also undergone some much needed
refurbishing. All this has been possible with
donations and a matching grant from the Illinois Department
of Natural Resources. But a lot of work is still
to be completed. Residents from the Lincoln Park
Historic District have volunteered to help the Museum Society
raise funds to complete the necessary repairs.
They will be supported in this endeavor by Museum volunteers,
area garden centers, florists, and local
businesses. But none of the work is possible
without the support of Museum Society members and the
community.
This past summer participating residents of the Lincoln Park
Historic District opened their lovely lawns and gardens for
tours during
Scents of July garden walk. This event showcased the area's
charming gardens and rich architectural heritage.
Funds rasied during this event are being used for renovations
at the Lamon House.
