(Ward Hill Lamon died at Robert Davidson Lamon's house
in Martinsburg, WV.  Robert was a carpenter while
living in Danville, IL. In a history of Danville written
in the 1880's Robert is credited with building nearly
all the wooden structures in the town--Robert was also a
friend of Abraham Lincoln's and served as a Deputy
U.S. Marshall in Washington during the Civil War--
Robert Davidson Lamon and Ward Hill Lamon are
shown as attending the dedication of the Gettysburg
Battlefield, and heard Lincoln's famous Gettysburg
Address).
